Online SGR booking can be made using any device with internet access, such as a phone, laptop, or desktop computer.
The Madaraka SGR train tickets can be booked through either;

- Dialing *639# from a Safaricom phone number

SGR Online Booking
- Visit the SGR website.
- Choose the train type, either express, inter-county or Suswa train
- Pick your departure station.
- Pick your destination station.
- Select the travel date and the departure time depending on the train type you selected
- Select “Book a Train” to see the available trains and rates.
- Fill in the Number of Travelers and Coach type either first class or economy
- Make payment using Mpesa
- Receive your SGR ticket either via message or email
- Enjoy you journey

SGR ticket confirmation
To ensure you know your travel date, departure time, coach number, and seat number before your SGR trip, you need to confirm your SGR ticket beforehand. If you’re unsure about how to do this, don’t worry. You can present your e-ticket confirmation code at the SGR station counter to confirm the booking details.
In case you can’t go to an SGR office physically, you can get in touch with the customer care team to confirm the booking details. Unfortunately, there’s no definitive method for checking your SGR ticket through SMS.
How to get SGR Refund
If you face any issues before the travel date with the tickets issued by SGR (Standard Gauge Railway), you can claim a 70% refund.
However, please note that the tickets must not be damaged. To cancel your ticket, you will have to be fined Ksh 450 (for Economy class) and Ksh 1350 (for First class).
But, you must claim the money 48 hours before (for individuals) and 72 hours before (for groups) your scheduled train departs. If you wish to reschedule your trip, you will be charged a 10% deduction. Please inform the SGR team as soon as you learn that it won’t be possible for you to travel as per the original schedule
SGR Train Schedule
Mombasa to Nairobi Train Schedule:
There are three train services available daily for travel between Mombasa and Nairobi. The first is the Inter-County train, which departs both Mombasa and Nairobi Termini simultaneously at 8:00 am. This train stops at scheduled stations including Mariakani, Miasenyi, Voi, Mtito Andei, Kibwezi, Emali, and Athi River.
The second train is the Afternoon Express, which departs both Mombasa and Nairobi Termini simultaneously at 3:00 pm. This train also stops at Voi station.
The third train is the Night train, which departs both Mombasa and Nairobi Termini simultaneously at 10:00 pm. This train does not stop during the journey.
